Do guests need to install an app?
No. Guests simply tap their phone on the employee's TipTag NFC pin and a branded checkout page opens instantly in their mobile browser. They can pay with credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay — no account creation or app download required.
How do payouts work for staff?
TipTag uses a direct charge model powered by Stripe Connect. Each employee completes a one-time Stripe onboarding to set up their own payout account. When a guest tips, the full tip amount goes directly to the employee's bank account. Processing fees and the platform convenience fee are added on top — never deducted from the tip.
What does the guest pay?
Guests pay the selected tip amount plus credit card processing fees and a small platform convenience fee. The full breakdown is shown at checkout before they confirm. For example, on a $20 tip the guest might pay $21.88 total, with the employee receiving the full $20.
Can businesses monitor performance?
Yes. TipTag provides an operator dashboard with real-time visibility into tip totals by employee and team, star rating trends, review sentiment, and service performance across locations and shifts.
Does TipTag help with Google or Yelp reviews?
Yes. After a positive tip and high star rating, TipTag can prompt the guest to leave a public review on Google or Yelp. This review funnel happens naturally at the moment of highest satisfaction, which typically leads to higher review volume and better ratings.
How quickly can we launch?
Most businesses can go live within days of signing up. Launch timing depends on location count, staff headcount, and onboarding logistics. TipTag provides rollout support including NFC pin provisioning, staff onboarding guidance, and dashboard setup.
